So this is it ... my first blog. Ever.
During the past few months I have become a regular user of Twitter, both sharing my thoughts, reading those of others', and sharing tweets that I found interesting, powerful, and/or useful. Recently, however, I have had the desire to share thoughts or reflections that are incapable of being adequately communicated within the limited confines of Twitter's 280 character limit. For example, not counting this sentence, I am already at 411 characters. This frustration, coupled with the exploration of a few other blogs (most notably the Cult of Pedagogy with Jennifer Gonzalez), sparked the desire to begin my own.
Welcome.
The writing of this blog marks the conclusion of the second week of my 14th year of teaching. There is nothing notable or special or momentous about this day (other than it is my youngest daughter's 16th birthday!). Instead, I have simply been presented with an opportunity to spend some time in front of my computer without the multitude of distractions and responsibilities that come with running a school. If possible, I plan to draft a new blog during weekly during the same time frame.
I believe that this blog will be a collection of observations that I have made, serving as a place to both reflect and digest. Additionally, I am sure that some blogs will serve to bolster my business venture, CW Consulting, in that I will share various topics related to education including instructional practices, culture and climate, SEL, and many more. Having spent nearly 15 years in the field, I have been fortunate enough to spend enough time in these domains to the point that I am comfortable and confident to share these insights with you. It is my hope that they are not only insightful and useful but also an enjoyable read.
Thank you for stopping by and please be sure to return for future posts.
P.S. This entire blog is 1,908 characters.
